Shillong, Sep 18: The Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA) has announced a shortlist of 25 cricketers who will participate in the final selection trial-cum-preparatory camp for the Meghalaya team, ahead of the BCCI Senior Women’s T20 Trophy for the 2024-25 season.
This significant step comes after months of evaluation and preparation aimed at assembling a competitive squad for the national tournament.
The trial camp is scheduled to take place in Shillong, starting from September 23, at the MCA Ground in Polo. It will serve both as a selection trial and a preparatory camp, providing an opportunity for the shortlisted players to prove their merit and finalize their spots in the team.
The selection process has been rigorous. The MCA carefully assessed players during a series of combined Senior and U-23 Women’s selection trial matches held earlier this year in Jagiroad, Assam, between June and July. These trials provided the MCA with a deep insight into the players’ abilities, leading to the final 25 who now stand a chance to represent Meghalaya at the national level.
The shortlisted players are required to report in Shillong on September 22, the day before the camp kicks off. The first day of trials on September 23 will commence early, with players expected to be ready by 8:30 AM for their first session on the MCA Ground.
With the BCCI’s Senior Women’s T20 Trophy just around the corner, the upcoming camp is crucial for Meghalaya’s preparation. The focus will be on sharpening skills, enhancing teamwork, and ensuring that the players are in peak form as they aim to make their mark in one of the country’s premier cricket tournaments.
