TURA, Sep 18: North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Vice Chancellor, Prof. PS Shukla, on Wednesday emphasised the role of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in fostering societal contribution, developing innovation as well as skill development.
The VC was addressing the inaugural programme of the 2nd Edition of Anusandhan, which was organised by NEHU’s Research and Development Cell at NEHU’s Tura campus. In his address, Prof. Shukla noted that the NEP 2020 promotes not just the acquisition of skills but also the ability to apply them effectively in society.
He highlighted the importance of Anusandhan in promoting research and innovation, adding that the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) aims to encourage cutting-edge research across India’s universities and colleges.
Stressing that the real meaning of a degree signifies an individual’s ability to perform at various stages, he encouraged the research scholars and students to push India towards becoming a knowledge-driven society.
Prof. Shukla also underlined the need to create an ecosystem within academic institutions where high-risk, innovative research can thrive.
Meanwhile, NEHU Tura campus Director, Sujata Gurudev, emphasised the critical role of research in solving global challenges.
She urged scholars to conduct research that preserves the unique assets of the Garo Hills region, underlining that academia is not just about learning but taking action.
