JOWAI, Sep 19: Two people were arrested by police on Wednesday evening with contraband items in their possession. The incident took place around 7:30 pm near Thomas Jones College, Jowai, when a police patrol team from Jowai Police Station intercepted the duo, who have been identified as Sdangki Myrphet (35) and Wandao Bareh (42) from Panaliar, Jowai.
Suspecting their involvement in the sale of contraband substances, the team subsequently conducted a search only to recover 5.1 grams of heroin and cash amounting to Rs 31,730.
