AAP MLA booked for attacking hotel owner
RAJPIPLA, (Gujarat) Sep 22: A case has been registered against an MLA of the AAP and 20 others for allegedly attacking a restaurant owner in Gujarat’s Narmada district, police said.Based on a complaint, the police on Saturday registered a FIRagainst AAP MLA Chaitar Vasava, six identified and around 15 unidentified persons for the incident that occurred in Dediapada on September 16.Chaitar Vasava, who won the 2022 Gujarat election from the Dediapada seat, and the other accused allegedly hurled verbal abuses and thrashed the complainant and restaurant owner Shantilal Vasava, the official said.The FIR states that the legislator and others attacked the complainant on the night of September 16 after he was asked to settle a restaurant bill, he said.The complainant alleged that he called Chaitar Vasava on his mobile phone and asked him to settle the bill. This angered the MLA, and he asked the latter to wait for him at his house, the official said.He said the MLA allegedly reached the complainant’s house along with a group of 20 people, slapped him and verbally abused him. The AAP leader’s accomplices also thrashed him and threatened to kill him.A case has been registered against the accused. (PTI)
Bodies of 8 fishermen found two days after capsize
NAMKHANA, (WB) Sep 22: The bodies of eight fishermen were on Sunday found in a trawler two days after it capsized in the Bay of Bengal, officials said.One fisherman, however, remained missing.The trawler, ‘MV Baba Gobinda’, was caught in a storm 60 km off the coast on Friday evening and capsized. Eight fishermen were rescued by nearby fishing boats but nine other occupants remained missing, they said.Following massive search and rescue operations, the capsized trawler was hauled up from the water and taken to Luthian Island in Sagar area of South 24 Parganas of West Bengal.The bodies of the eight fishermen were found on the deck and in the cabin of the vessel and taken to Namkhana, while a search was underway for the remaining missing fisherman.The fishing vessel left Namkhana in South 24 Parganas district for the deep seas on Friday noon. A pall of gloom descended upon the fisherman’s locality as the news of the recovery of the bodies reached the residents. (PTI)
Man booked for raping sister-in-law, aborting her pregnancy
THANE, Sep 22: Police have launched an investigation after a woman lodged an FIR alleging rape by her brother-in-law who forced her to abort her pregnancy in Thane district, an official said on Sunday.The complainant claimed that her 32-year-old brother-in-law raped her at her sister’s house on January 26 and multiple times in subsequent months.The victim claimed the accused took her to a hospital in Mumbra and forced her to terminate her pregnancy. He also threatened her parents, the official said.Police on Saturday registered an FIR under sections 68 (Sexual intercourse by a person in authority) and 88 (Causing miscarriage) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.No arrest has been made so far.
