Governor attends diamond jubilee celebration of city law college

SHILLONG, Sep 26: Governor CH Vijayashankar attended the Diamond Jubilee Celebration of Shillong Law College as the chief guest, at the State Central Library’s U Soso Tham Auditorium on Thursday. The event was also graced by Justice HS Thankhiew, the guest of honour, along with Justice Wanlora Diengdoh and Justice B Bhattacharjee, all Judges of the High Court of Meghalaya.
In his address, the Governor congratulated Shillong Law College on its 60 years of excellence in legal education. He praised the institution for shaping legal minds and contributing to the judicial and legal framework of Meghalaya. Recognizing the challenges of the modern legal landscape, he urged students to uphold the principles of justice, equality, and integrity in their future careers. The Governor also encouraged the college to continue its commitment to academic excellence and ethical practices, while producing capable legal professionals who will contribute meaningfully to society. He emphasized that those who study law never truly retire but continue to serve the country and society throughout their lives.
The event saw the presence of esteemed legal luminaries, alumni, faculty members, students, and dignitaries from across the state. Various cultural performances and presentations showcasing the college’s history and achievements were also part of the celebration.
