Dy Speaker partakes in parliamentary conference

SHILLONG, Sep 28: Deputy Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Timothy D Shira, and Commissioner& Secretary, Dr. Andrew Simons, attended the 21st Annual Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPA), India Region, Zone III, which was held in Aizawl on September 27-28.
The topics that were discussed during the conference, which was inaugurated by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, were the inclusion of the North East Region in the India-ASEAN Vision for Trade and Cooperation, and the proposal to merge the Ministry of DoNER with the North Eastern Council (NEC) for improved strategic planning and coordination in the region.
While Shira, during the conference, actively contributed to discussions on both topics, offering valuable insights on the region’s development and future, Dr. Simons presented a detailed report, highlighting the activities and achievements of CPA Region Zone III since the previous conference.
