Badminton tourney concludes at Ampati

Ampati, Sep 29: The South West Garo Hills District Badminton Association (SWGHDBA) successfully organized the 3rd Badminton Tournament, 2024, over the weekend at the Ampati Indoor Stadium. The event, held on Friday and Saturday, showcased the talent of badminton players across multiple categories.
The two-day tournament saw a competitive lineup with 12 participants in the Men’s Singles Open category, 9 teams in the Men’s Doubles Open category, and 5 players in the Under-19 Boys Singles category.
The closing ceremony featured Ravi K Sangma, Deputy Superintendent of Police (HQ) for South West Garo Hills, as the Chief Guest. He praised the participants for their sportsmanship and dedication to the sport, and presented prizes to the winners and runners-up in each category.
In the Under-19 Boys Singles category, Civilo Ch Momin defeated Pattian Ch Momin to claim the title. In the Men’s Singles Open category, Khan T Sangma emerged victorious over Civilo Ch Momin. Meanwhile, in the Men’s Doubles Open category, Eligious Sengbath G Momin and Civilo Ch Momin triumphed against Khan T Sangma and Francis G Momin to take home the top honours.
The successful organization of the 3rd Badminton Tournament fostered a spirit of sportsmanship among participants.
