Decomposed body found
On January 6, 2024, around 10.45 am, one highly decomposed unidentified male dead body with injury marks was recovered from a jungle near GSI Lumdiengjri, Shillong. The cadaver was shifted to NEIGRIHMS for post-mortem examination. The PM report was received on August 28, 2024.
Bid to loot Rapido captain
One Rapido rider lodged a complaint that on September 19, around 11 am, an unidentified person, who was reportedly in an inebriated condition, hired his scooter (ML-05Y-9498) from Anjalee, Shillong, till Lyngkhoi in Eastern West Khasi Hills. However, on reaching Mairang, the unidentified passenger forcibly snatched his mobile phone and cash worth Rs 300 from him and also attempted to take away his scooter.
Bike stolen
On the September 26, around 2.30 am, miscreant(s) stole a motorcycle (AS-01FU-2500) from Nongrim Hills, Shillong.
Stolen bike found
On September 24, police recovered an abandoned motorcycle (AS-26B-6639) from near Chisobibra Bridge in East Garo Hills, which was reportedly stolen from Bongaigaon, Assam. The stolen motorcycle was kept at Williamnagar Traffic Branch (EGH) for safe custody.
Blackmail
A resident of a locality in Shillong lodged a complaint that on September 18, unknown person(s) cheated him of Rs 52,050. He was later blackmailed to scam other people, in order to get back his money.
Gold necklace delivery issue
A woman from a locality in Shillong lodged a complaint that on November 28, 2023, she gave her gold necklace to a jewelry shop ‘S Marwein’ at Iewduh, Shillong, with an advance payment of Rs 20,000 and the gold necklace was supposed to be delivered to her on February 28, 2024. However, on the delivery day, the shop owner refused to return the gold necklace.
Staff steals from employer
Shonny A Sangma of Rongkhon, Tura, West Garo Hills, lodged a complaint that on September 24, he learnt that his employee Dulal Ch Gayan, who was working with him for the past 10 years, stole a signed cheque from the complainant’s office and withdrew Rs 8 lakh.

A female resident of a locality in Shillong lodged a complaint that on September 7, miscreant(s) cheated her sister of Rs 2 lakh approximately, online, while she was booking travel tickets.
A female resident of a locality in Shillong lodged a complaint that while replying to a random WhatsApp message for reviewing some products, etc., she was cheated of Rs. 6.74 lakh.
Break-in
Ratnadip Bhattacharjee lodged a complaint that on September 25, miscreant(s) broke into his residence at Demthring Block-IV, Shillong, and stole gold ornaments valued around Rs 42,000, a mobile phone and cash worth Rs 6,000.
Nathu Ray lodged a complaint that on September 20 early morning, miscreant(s) broke into his shop at Rongjeng Bazar in East Garo Hills, and stole cash and grocery items valued around Rs 5,000.
Cattle heads found
Party Commander, A-Coy, 4th Bn., BSF, BOP Rongtilla, in West Jaintia Hills, lodged a complaint that on September 24, around 11.35 pm, BSF personnel recovered three head of cattle from a place near BP No. 1286/6-S in West Jaintia Hills.
Substances seized
On September 24, acting on a tip-off, police arrested one Jrangkim M Sangma (31) from Dobasipara, Tura, West Garo Hills, and seized 560 Tramadol, Acetaminophen and Dicyclomine capsules from his possession.

Salny M Marak lodged a complaint that on September 25, miscreant(s) stole her mobile phone, while she was shopping at Dadenggre Foreign Bazar in West Garo Hills.
Work left incomplete
Poebi G Momin, on September 10, lodged a complaint that one Tazibul Islam took a total advance payment of Rs 3.49 lakh from her and five other PMAY-G scheme beneficiaries at Nengbrok Darugre village in East Garo Hills for construction of low-cost houses under the aforesaid scheme. However, since June 16, 2024, Tazibul Islam stopped the construction work.
Theft
Gautam Karmakar lodged a complaint that on September 3, he found that miscreant(s) stole one Remote Radio Unit (RRU) from a tower site at Dobu Chandare in East Garo Hills.
