VEC job card holders call for halt to ‘illegal’ committee reconstitution
TURA, Sep 30: Job card holders under the Namabilla Village Employment Council (VEC) in West Garo Hills have lodged a formal complaint with the Additional District Programme Coordinator of MGNREGS, urging him to stop the alleged illegal reconstitution of the Programme Implementation Executive Committee. In their complaint, the job card holders stated that although the term of the existing committee members ended on January 26, 2023, repeated petitions for a proper reconstitution of the committee had fallen on deaf ears of the authorities. However, they now allege that efforts are being made to reconstitute a new committee without adhering to the guidelines outlined in an official order issued on September 8, 2023. In their complaint, the job card holders sought the intervention of the official to prevent the unlawful formation of the new committee.
