PM Modi lays base for model schools in state

TURA, Oct 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday digitally laid the foundation stone for as many as nine Eklavya Model Residential Schools including one at Jelbongpara village under Betasing C&RD Block of South West Garo Hills, and another at Radi village in North Garo Hills.
As part of the Central Government’s initiative to boost educational infrastructure for the tribal communities, the Prime Minister inaugurated 40 Eklavya Model Residential Schools and laid the foundation stone for 25 model schools worth over Rs 2,800 crore from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand.
It may be mentioned that out of the 25 EMRSs, nine EMRSs were allocated for Meghalaya under various C&RD Blocks.
Project Coordinator for EMRS Meghalaya, Sarjit Ch of MANIDCO Ltd and Contractor for EMRS Jelbongpara, Samson Thoho, were among others present at Ampati event.
