SHILLONG, Oct 3: The State BJP has raised concerns over various irregularities in the recently declared staff nurse recruitment results by the Meghalaya Medical Services Recruitment Board (MMSRB) and called on Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma to ensure that the recruitment process is conducted fairly.
Highlighting these anomalies, BJP’s state general secretary Wankitbok Pohshna said the inconsistencies reflect a deeper systemic issue. He criticised the state’s handling of such examinations, calling it careless and incompetent, warning that it jeopardises the futures of many young aspirants, which could have long-term negative consequences for the state.
Wankitbok emphasized that thousands of youths seeking government jobs expect transparency and honesty from recruiting agencies. He stressed that authorities like the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) and MMSRB must prove that examinations are free from malpractice. “Even a hint of the contrary will completely erode whatever trust the public has in the current administration, with consequences that need no further explanation,” he added.
He pointed out that whenever results are announced by government authorities, there is widespread discontent regarding how the exams are conducted and the results tabulated, creating doubts among job seekers. “This does not bode well for the future. Repeated concerns raised by the public have led to no changes in the standard operating procedure. This points to a deeply entrenched attitude within government establishments that resists any form of course correction aimed at restoring trust in the recruitment process,” he said.
Wankitbok warned that the state’s future is at risk if deserving candidates are consistently overlooked due to glaring errors in the recruitment process. He urged the Chief Minister to intervene and ensure that recruitment processes are transparent, free of manipulation, and that procedures are developed to prevent rigging or result tampering for the benefit of a few.
He further cautioned, “The nation recently watched in horror as the recruitment scam in West Bengal destroyed the lives of millions. Shouldn’t we prevent Meghalaya from heading down the same devastating path?”
