SHILLONG, Oct 3: The Meghalaya SSA School Association (MSSSA) on Thursday urged Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma to take immediate action to secure the services of SSA teachers.
In a letter to the minister, the MSSSA expressed its willingness to cooperate with the government in developing a policy to secure the positions of SSA teachers in Meghalaya, similar to measures adopted in other states.
The association requested that the Education department complete all technical procedures and introduce the policy within two months. They warned that any delay would leave them with no choice but to resort to democratic protests and agitation.
“For the best interests of both the students and teachers in the state, we expect the government to implement the policy securing SSA teachers’ services within two months, starting from the date of receiving this letter,” the MSSSA stated.
The association has issued an ultimatum, demanding a policy that guarantees job security for SSA (Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan) teachers. During a general executive committee (GEC) meeting, members unanimously decided to prioritise service security over salary enhancement — a resolution later endorsed in a larger meeting of SSA teachers held on Wednesday.
