SHILLONG, Oct 10: Tura MDC and BJP leader Bernard Marak has emerged as the frontrunner for the party ticket in the upcoming Gambegre bypoll.
Confirming this, BJP spokesperson M Kharkrang stated that while Marak leads the race, a few others have also shown interest in contesting the bypoll. Notably, Marak has already begun campaigning in the constituency.
Meanwhile, the BJP is open to contesting the upcoming the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) elections as well. According to Kharkrang, the party is prepared to field candidates if there are leaders interested in running.
“If our leaders want to contest the polls, the party will move forward and participate,” Kharkrang added.
