Timings for idol immersion announced

SHILLONG, Oct 10: To ensure a smooth and orderly flow of processions, detailed sector-wise timings regulating the route from the State Central Library to CS Point have been released. According to the new guidelines, entry on foot along this route will be restricted during the immersion ceremony, which will start at 10:30 am and conclude by 5 pm.
The Laban and Rilbong Sector will begin its immersion at 12:30 pm. This sector, home to many Puja pandals, has been divided into two parts for clarity. Laban (A) includes Madan Laban, Lumparing, and Harisabha, while Laban (B) covers Rilbong, Laban Namghar, Hathat Colony, and Kench’s Trace.
Similarly, the Rynjah Sector is scheduled for immersion at 1 pm, encompassing prominent Puja sites such as RR Colony, MES Durga Puja, CWE Complex, and SE Falls. With its afternoon slot, the Rynjah immersion is expected to draw large numbers of participants bidding farewell to the goddess.
The Sadar and Keating Road Sector will begin its procession at 2 pm, covering multiple neighborhoods including Keating Road, Oakland, Jail Road, Barik, Pynthor, Forest Colony, Polo, Lower Jail Road, and Nongmensong.
In contrast, Laitumkhrah’s immersion is scheduled to start earlier in the day, at 10:30 am.
Garikhana and Lumdiengiri will also see immersion activities begin in the morning, with Garikhana starting at 10:30 am and Lumdiengiri at 11 am. This sector covers neighborhoods such as Paltan Bazaar, Luckier Road, Qualapatty, Lower Mawprem, Harijan Colony, Punjabi Lane, Barapathar, and Jhalupara.
