Roll ball, speed skating c’ships conclude successfully in Shillong

Shillong, Oct 20: The 1st Senior Inter District Roll Ball Championship and the 3rd Meghalaya Speed Skating Championship 2024 came to a successful conclusion on Saturday at St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong. Organized by the Meghalaya Roll Ball Association and East Khasi Hills Roll Ball Association, the event saw enthusiastic participation from districts across the state.
In the Roll Ball Championship, West Jaintia Hills District emerged victorious, claiming the championship title.
West Khasi Hills secured the 1st runner-up position, while East Khasi Hills finished as the 2nd runner-up.
Simultaneously, the 3rd Meghalaya Speed Skating Championship was held by the Meghalaya Speed Skating Association, featuring competitions across various age groups.
Many participants from schools like Loreto Convent, BDW International School, St. Anthony’s Hr. Secondary School, St. Edmund’s School, St. Mary’s Hr. Secondary School, and St. Mary’s English School competed in categories such as Under-6, Under-8, Under-10, Under-12, Under-14, and Above-8 for both boys and girls in Quads and Inline divisions.
The championship provided a platform for young athletes to showcase their talents, further promoting the growing popularity of roll ball and speed skating in Meghalaya.
The successful conclusion of both championships marks a significant step in fostering young and budding talent in Meghalaya’s sporting landscape.
