M’laya blind football team clinches bronze at natl championship

Tura, Oct 24: In a remarkable display of skill and determination, the Meghalaya blind football team secured third place at the prestigious National Blind Football Tournament, which was recently held in Pune, Maharashtra.
The competition, spanning from October 15 to 20, saw participation from the top blind football teams across the country, making Meghalaya’s achievement a moment of pride for the state.
The team’s success was bolstered by the exceptional performance of Klingson D Marak, who emerged as the tournament’s top scorer with an outstanding tally of 8 goals. His sharp instinct and impressive control on the ball earned him accolades throughout the event. Complementing Marak’s efforts, Johnborlang Pyngrope was honoured with the title of Emerging Player of the Tournament, a recognition of his promising talent and crucial contributions to Meghalaya’s success.
The tournament, organised to promote blind football in India, is known for its fierce competition. Teams from various states came together to showcase their skills, with the games drawing attention to the sport’s increasing popularity and the growing number of talented players across the country.
