SHILLONG/TURA, Oct 29: The Electoral Registration Officers of assembly constituencies in Meghalaya have announced the publication of draft electoral rolls.
In East Khasi Hills, copies of the draft electoral rolls have been made available for public inspection at the offices of the Electoral Registration Officers, local Community and Rural Development Blocks, and respective polling stations during office hours.
The qualifying date for the rolls is January 1, 2025, it was informed.
Meanwhile, claims for name inclusion or objections to entries can be submitted by November 28, 2024, either in person, at designated polling stations, or by post.
“An eligible citizen, who is going to attain the age of 18 years on any of the subsequent qualifying dates in the year 2025, that is to say 1st April 2025, 1st July 2025 or 1st October, 2025, may also file his or her claim for inclusion of his or her name in the roll, in Form- 6, in advance starting from the date of notice and the same shall be considered and decided in the respective quarter of the year with reference to the respective qualifying date,” a statement in this regard said.
Ri-Bhoi
In Mawhati, Nongpoh, Jirang, and Umsning assembly constituencies, the draft roll is available at the Electoral Registration Officer’s office and designated locations.
Eastern West Khasi Hills
In Mairang and Mawthadraishan assembly constituencies, draft electoral rolls are open for inspection from October 29 to November 28, 2024, at the Electoral Registration Office and all polling stations.
West Jaintia Hills
The draft roll for Nartiang, Jowai, Raliang, and Mowkaiaw constituencies was presented to political party representatives on Tuesday.
Eligible citizens have been asked to register from October 29 to November 28, 2024.
Special camps in this regard will be held on November 15, 16, 21 and 22.
West Garo Hills
In Tura, too, the draft photo electoral rolls for Phulbari, Rajabala, Selsella, North Tura, South Tura, Rangsakona, Gambegre and Dalu assembly constituencies have been prepared and have been kept at the deputy commissioner’s office and polling stations for available.
In this regard, the general public has been asked to file claims for inclusion or corrections from October 29 to November 28, 2024.
It may be mentioned that the draft electoral rolls for 11 constituencies within West Garo Hills were handed over to political parties at the DRDA Conference Hall, Tura.
Additionally, the Sub-Divisional Officer (Election) of Dadenggre Civil Subdivision has made draft rolls for the Raksamgre, Tikkrikilla, and Dadenggre constituencies available for inspection at the Sub-Divisional Office (Election) and polling stations.
