Inauguration
A Retinal Laser Unit was on Monday installed and inaugurated at Mission Nethralaya Shillong. According to a statement here, the retinal laser unit will cater to people from Shillong to combat retinal blindness, including diabetic retinopathy. “Patients from remote areas of Meghalaya will also benefit through the introduction of retina services at Mission Nethralaya,” it said.

On October 20 at approximately 10:30 pm, Kench’s Trace Police Station received a report from the officer in charge at Mawdiangdiang Outpost about the death of an unidentified male who had been admitted to NEIGRIHMS. The individual was initially admitted with injuries at the hospital on October 4. However, he succumbed on October 19. Meanwhile, inquest, autopsy and other necessary legal formalities have been completed, and the body has been kept at the hospital morgue for identification and claim. The deceased is approximately 50 years old, five feet two inches tall, with fair complexion, a round face, white hair, and a medium build. At the time of admission, he was wearing only an adult diaper.
