Jowai, Nov 2: The Amlarem Football League for the 2024-2025 season officially kicked off on Saturday at the Mini Stadium ASSA in Ladjaplem, Amlarem Civil Sub-Division. Organized by the Amlarem Sub-Divisional Sports Association (ASSA), this year’s tournament promises fierce competition, with 69 teams battling it out across three divisions: the Super Division, comprising eight teams; the Upper Division with 16 teams; and a robust Lower Division featuring 45 teams.
In recognition of regional football talent, ASSA honored its Under-14 and Under-16 teams, both of which recently qualified for the State Youth League 2024 held in Shillong—an achievement showcasing the potential of youth players from the area.
The Super Division opened with an exciting first match, where Lumpyngngad SC dominated Pamtbuh SC, securing a 4-0 victory. Goals for Lumpyngngad SC came from Dei-o-syih, scoring in the 15th and 52nd minutes, followed by Dongmih Surong in the 56th minute, and B. Pohshna sealing the win in the 60th minute.
During the inauguration, MFA President Hamletson Dohling commended the ASSA officials for their hard work in organizing the tournament.
