SHILLONG, Nov 3: Residents of 21 villages will stage a sit-in on the KHADC premises on November 9 in protest against the decision of the council to attach them with Rambrai-Jyrngam constituency instead of retaining them in Mawshynrut.
Locals of the 21 villages who had formed the Joint Action Committee (JAC) representing three polling stations — Misei, Mawsmai, and Langdongdai — took the decision during a meeting held at Mawsmai village on Saturday.
JAC chairman Jerimaiah Dkhar said they will be holding the protest to pressurise the KHADC to revert the decision of the Select Committee and reattach the 21 villages with Mawshynrut constituency.
He warned that KHADC CEM Pyniaid Sing Syiem and his deputy, PN Syiem will be held responsible if anything happens to any of the protesters inside the council.
The JAC expressed their discontent with the recent decision of the Select Committee to include these villages under Rambrai-Jyrngam.
