SHILLONG, Nov 7: The Opposition Congress is poised to move the appellate court following lack of communication from Assembly Speaker Thomas A Sangma on the disqualification petitions filed against three former party MLAs – Celestine Lyngdoh, Charles Marngar, and Gabriel Wahlang for joining the ruling NPP.
“The Speaker tried to delay the disqualification one way or the other. Yesterday I told our legal team to prepare to move the appellate court as we cannot afford any more delays,” MPCC president Vincent H Pala said on Thursday.
He said the AICC is taking care of the disqualification petition issue and has positioned a legal team in Delhi and another in the state.
On the delay by the Speaker in giving his ruling, Pala said, “It shows that the Speaker is biased and he is trying to protect them as they now belong to his party. Being a Speaker he should also look into the real issue and come out with an order.”
