Foetus found abandoned in Shillong

SHILLONG, Nov 7: In a distressing incident, an abandoned foetus was discovered on the roadside near the FCI facility in Shillong on Saturday morning. The discovery was made around 10 am, and authorities were immediately alerted.
Following standard legal procedures, the newborn’s remains were transferred to the morgue at NEIGRIHMS Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the law, and an investigation is under way.
Authorities have urged anyone with information that could help identify the newborn to contact the police.
