SHILLONG, Nov 11: The high-voltage campaign for the Gambegre bypoll ended on Monday with political pundits predicting a contest among the NPP, TMC and Congress. However, the BJP has claimed that the party cannot just be sidelined from the fray.
Cabinet Minister and BJP leader AL Hek said it would be too early to write the party off considering the fact that huge crowds attended the public meetings of the BJP in the constituency.
Admitting that all the contesting parties in the by-election are strong, he also distanced the party from the NPP, saying both BJP and NPP are contesting the bypoll as separate entities and there is no question of any partnership.
When asked about BJP candidate Bernard Marak having five criminal cases pending against him, Hek said no one is guilty until proven.
