NONGPOH, Nov 12: In a collision between two trucks, the driver of the clinker-laden truck sustained serious injuries after his truck made a head-on impact with another stationary truck that had broken down and was parked on the roadside along National Highway 6 at 12th Mile, Ri-Bhoi.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 4:30 am on Tuesday. The clinker truck, driven by Hanpaia Laloo, with registration number ML11 A1436, crashed into a stationary truck bearing registration number NL01 AD5135, driven by Neverson Shadap.
The impact left the front portion of Laloo’s truck completely shattered, trapping him inside the vehicle.
It was further reported that Laloo, who was trapped in the truck’s cabin, suffered severe leg injuries.
Rescuers, including emergency response teams, were able to extricate him from the cabin after over two hours with the assistance of a tow truck.
Police promptly transported Laloo, a resident of Rakabab in West Jaintia Hills, to the Guwahati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) for medical treatment through a 108 ambulance. Both vehicles were subsequently removed from the accident site to facilitate further investigation.
