Pandey, Naidu shine at Meghalaya State Golf C’ship

Shillong, Nov 17: Meghalaya State Golf Championship 2024 and Batkupar J. Synrem Memorial Open, held at the Assam Rifles Environmental Club Park and Training Area in Laitkor, concluded with thrilling victories by Bimal Kumar Pandey and Rehan Naidu.
The event, co-sanctioned by the IGU East Zone Junior & Amateur Feeder Tour, ran from November 16 to 17 and witnessed the participation of over 94 golfers.
The championship, affiliated with the Meghalaya State Olympic Association, also honored the memory of Batkupar J. Synrem, a passionate golfer from Shillong. Despite unavoidable circumstances limiting the second round to nine holes, the tournament showcased remarkable talent across various categories.
Bimal Kumar Pandey emerged as the winner in both the Amateur and Mid-Amateur categories with a total score of 116. He secured his victory in a sudden-death playoff against M. Ori, who posted the same score.
Rehan Naidu, initially second after the first round, posted an impressive 40 in the final round, achieving an overall score of 121 to win the A&B Boys category. He also topped the B Boys category. Anya Singh claimed the A&B Girls Combined category with a score of 111. Senior category winner Yogesh Chettri posted an overall score of 122 and also triumphed in the Senior & Super-Senior Combined category. Dilip K. Borah won the Super-Senior category with a score of 129 and was runner-up in the Senior category. Subhra Mishra dominated the Ladies category, finishing with a score of 138. In the junior categories, Daiwik Naidu (C Boys) and Aryan Bajaj (E Boys) posted scores of 80 and 49, respectively, to secure their victories. Among the girls, Akansha Jaiswal (B Girls) and Sahej (C Girls) won their respective categories with scores of 222 and 122.
M. Ori and Abhishek Mitra took second and third positions in both the Amateur and Mid-Amateur categories, with scores of 116 and 117, respectively. In the Senior & Super-Senior Combined category, Anthony Hek (129) and Keisham Indrajit (130) secured runner-up positions.
