NCW team visits domestic violence victim at Shillong Civil Hospital

Shillong, Nov 20: The National Commission for Women (NCW) visited the Shillong Civil Hospital on Wednesday to take stock of the health condition of a victim of domestic violence.

West Jaintia Hills police had on Tuesday arrested one Dahun Dkhar from Latyrke village in East Jaintia Hills for allegedly setting his wife on fire at his residence in Niriang village under Thadlaskein Block. The victim is undergoing treatment at Shillong Civil Hospital.

NCW member, Delina Khongdup Raimaw expressed concerned on the growing number of domestic violence cases in Meghalaya. According to her, she receives 9- 10 complaints of domestic violence on a daily basis. She further said that the Commission had taken a suo moto cognisance of this particular case and action would be initiated
