Shillong, Nov 27: The Shillong Manipuri Students’ Union (SMSU) has expressed concern and grief over the recent brutal killings in Jiribam, Manipur, where three children—aged two years and five months, eight months, and eight years—along with three women were abducted from the Borobekra area before being inhumanely killed on November 12.
In a statement, SMSU president Priyalini Rajkumari strongly condemned the horrific and barbaric acts, calling them inhumane and unacceptable.
“We appeal to the Law Enforcement Authorities of both central and state governments to ensure prompt and effective investigations, and stringent measures are undertaken to book the culprits involved with rigorous punishment at the earliest,” Rajkumari said.
Highlighting the failure of law and order in the state, Rajkumari emphasised the urgent need for a new and competent government in Manipur to restore normalcy and peace.
“We demand a new confident and constructive government in the state of Manipur to restore normalcy and peace in the state. The government of Manipur and the central government must truly define the responsibilities and concerns to firmly act in the best possible ways to ensure that the lives and property of the people of the state are safe and protected at any cost,” the SMSU president said.
