Rymbai SC clinch third Gold Knockout Football title

JOWAI, Nov 30: Rymbai Skhenshynriah SC showcased their dominance on the football field, defeating Kynsai Stream Fencing FC 2-0 in a gripping final to claim their third title at the prestigious 30th Gold Knockout Football Tournament.
The tournament, organized by the Wapungskur Sports & Social Welfare Organisation (WSSWO), concluded on Friday at Wapung School in East Jaintia Hills District.
The champions were rewarded with ₹5 lakh in prize money and half a tola of gold, while the runner-up team walked away with ₹3 lakh. The final match, marked by skill and determination, underscored Rymbai Skhenshynriah SC’s superiority as they executed their game plan with precision.
The grand event was attended by notable dignitaries, including Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, Local MDC Phasmon Dkhar, the District Commissioner, the Superintendent of Police of East Jaintia Hills, and other prominent officials.
During the closing ceremony, Deputy Chief Minister Dhar announced a contribution of up to ₹20 lakh for constructing a new dressing room at the WSSWO playground.
MDC Phasmon Dkhar pledged his support to collaborate with Dhar in laying artificial turf at the ground, ensuring better facilities for players in future tournaments.The tournament not only highlighted the region’s vibrant sports culture but also emphasized the community’s commitment to fostering athletic talent and infrastructure development.
The 30th Gold Knockout Football Tournament concluded with Rymbai Skhenshynriah SC’s emphatic victory, highlighting their supremacy on the field.
The grand finale not only celebrated footballing excellence but also reflected the community’s commitment to fostering sportsmanship and improving infrastructure.
With promises of significant investments in the WSSWO playground, the event reinforced its role as a cornerstone for nurturing local talent and enhancing East Jaintia Hills’ sports culture.
