SHILLONG, Dec 1: NPP Rajya Sabha member, WR Kharlukhi stated that until and unless all MPs from the North East unite, the issues of the region will continue to be neglected and voices remain unheard.
“The NPP was formed with this vision and we want that to happen. Division and solitude will not help anyone. We need to all get together and push our issues and make our voice heard in the Parliament,” said Kharlukhi.
Citing Manipur situation, he called it a classic example of Northeast region’s issues not being much of a concern for the Centre.
He also pointed out how the NEHU crisis is taking a long time to be resolved.
Stating that there are 25 Lok Sabha seats and 14 Rajya Sabha seats across the eight states of the Northeast, the NPP MP said, “Imagine if we all unite our forces and speak for the issue of the Northeast together in the Parliament. I am sure if this happens, we will be able to generate more response from the Centre on pertinent issues related to the Northeast.”
