Students feted for undergoing life skills training

Tura, Dec 2: Students from Garo Hills who were part of the Life Skills Training program titled “Building Young Leaders by Empowering Adolescent Boys and Girls with Transformational Life Skills” were on Monday, felicitated at the District Auditorium, Tura in a programme organized by Meghalaya Institute of Governance (MIG), Shillong.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest of the function, Sub-Divisional Officer (C), Dadenggre Civil Sub-Division Sumeet Kumar Singh emphasized on the changes both physical and emotional that takes place during adolescence and said that it was the perfect time to mould a person’s character. He further reiterated that training for Life Skills during adolescence is necessary to empower the youth to stride towards success and achievement in their future career.

The programme saw teachers- Milleni S Sangma from Nokrek Heights School, Antony T Sangma from St. Mary’s School, Roxanne Tangkame R Marak from Christian Girls Higher Secondary School, Walma Fredi A Sangma from Captain William School, Euvalarie R Marak from Don Bosco School , sharing their experiences.

Meanwhile, Director, Meghalaya Institute of Governance (MIG), Shillong Aiban Swer informed that about ten thousand students from the state have benefited from this life skills program conducted in different schools of the district and added that more training programs would be conducted in the coming days. He also called upon the students to be a part of this movement and become young leaders and transform the life of people and be part of nation building in future.

The Programme Coordinator, Meghalaya Institute of Governance (MIG) June H Warbah also gave a brief report of the objectives of the project conducted in the district which focus on moulding the personality of the students to become future leaders of the nation.
