MCA picks squad for last Cooch Behar Trophy 2024-25

Shillong, Dec 4: The Meghalaya Cricket Association’s junior men selection committee has selected 15 players for the team’s last match of the U-19 men’s Cooch Behar Trophy 2024-25, which will be against Karnataka from 6 to 9 December in Bangalore.
One change has been made by the selectors, with Shubham Rasaily put on standby and Rohit Sharma brought into the squad.
Although they have lost all four matches played thus far in Elite Group A, Meghalaya have shown promise, especially in the batting department in their last two games, which were both played at home against the group’s top teams, Baroda and Delhi.
Karnataka, on the other hand, have had a mixed season with two wins and two defeats but they will be playing at their home ground and Meghalaya will have to rise to the occasion. As Meghalaya heads into their final match of the U-19 Men’s Cooch Behar Trophy against Karnataka, the team faces a crucial test of resolve and resilience.
Despite a winless campaign in Elite Group A, the young side has demonstrated glimpses of potential, particularly in their batting performances during their last two home games against Baroda and Delhi.
Both were formidable opponents, and though Meghalaya fell short, the contests highlighted areas of promise and growth.The upcoming match in Bangalore, scheduled from December 6 to 9, presents a significant challenge, not only because of Karnataka’s stature as a cricketing powerhouse but also due to the advantage of playing on home turf.
On the other hand, Karnataka’s season has been mixed, with two victories and two losses, but their familiarity with the conditions will undoubtedly make them a tough opponent. .
As the team heads south, the support staff, led by Head Coach Sandipan Deb Nath, will have their task cut out in strategizing against a well-rounded Karnataka side.
