ACA applauds Saikia on being appointed as BCCI interim secretary

GUWAHATI, Dec 8: The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has congratulated Devajit Saikia on his appointment as the acting secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Saikia, who was holding the post of joint secretary of BCCI, succeeded Jay Shah, who recently took over as the president of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Notably, the appointment of Saikia as the interim secretary of BCCI is seen as a milestone that will further integrate the cricketing aspirations of the Northeast with the national arena.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, ACA president Taranga Gogoi, secretary Tridib Konwar, and the entire apex council, termed the development as a proud moment for Assam and the cricketing fraternity of the Northeast.In his statement, ACA president Taranga Gogoi said: “We are confident that Saikia’s vast experience and visionary leadership will contribute significantly to the advancement of Indian cricket.
His appointment reflects his unparalleled dedication and commitment to the game.”Echoing these sentiments, ACA secretary Tridib Konwar remarked: “Saikia’s elevation to this prestigious position underscores his hard work and deep understanding of the game, as he himself was a player. It’s a moment of pride for all of us.”
