SHILLONG, Dec 9: The Directorate of Commerce & Industries, Meghalaya, has launched the second batch of the Mentor Development Program (MDP) for entrepreneurs under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme.
The launch event was held on Monday at the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Centre for Policy Research and Analysis, Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Shillong, and was attended by participants from all the districts of Meghalaya.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the four-day programme, Joint Director of Commerce & Industries, ML Wanshnong, encouraged the attendees to gain knowledge and familiarise themselves with cutting-edge business technologies delivered by IIM Shillong faculty.
He stressed that the training aims to enhance value addition in products and services and bridge critical gaps in market access, technology adoption and financial sustainability for entrepreneurs.
On the other hand, Deputy Director (Marketing), IZ Wreang, highlighted the vital role of entrepreneurs as pillars of Meghalaya’s economy.
Similarly, General Manager of the District Commerce & Industries Centre, Shillong, A Malngiang, urged participants to maximise their learning from the experts at IIM Shillong and share their insights to build sustainable business ecosystems in their districts.
Meanwhile, Dr. Sanjeev Ningombam, a faculty member at the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Centre for Policy Research and Analysis, IIM Shillong, briefed the participants about the programme’s content and expressed gratitude to the Directorate of Commerce & Industries for the collaboration aimed at improving MSME performance in the state.
It may be mentioned that the Mentor Development Programme is a training programme for entrepreneurs to become mentors for other entrepreneurs.
The program is part of the RAMP scheme—an initiative of the Ministry of MSME and is supported by the World Bank—and aims to bolster the MSME sector in Meghalaya.
