SHILLONG, Dec 13: Condemning the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, members of the All Meghalaya Citizen Conscious Forum (AMCCF) staged a protest rally in the state capital on Friday, demanding the safety of the religious minority.
The protest march, which began at Mawbah and concluded at Rhino Point, saw participants expressing solidarity with the minorities in Bangladesh.
Carrying placards and banners, the group chanted slogans such as ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and other messages, denouncing the atrocities meted out to the Hindus in the neighbouring country.
Forum convener, Raju Paul, announced that it would submit a petition to the interim prime minister of Bangladesh through the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, demanding action against those responsible for the violence.
Paul highlighted that since August 2024, minority communities in Bangladesh, including Hindus, Christians and Buddhists, have faced numerous atrocities.
“We strongly condemn the bloodshed against the Hindu and other minority communities in Bangladesh. There is a need for immediate action to protect the rights and safety of these minorities in Bangladesh,” Paul stated.
