SHILLONG, Jan 2: The Khasi Students’ Union has asked the state government to come out with a positive and clear message this year on the demand for the implementation of ILP in the state.
“This year we have high expectation that the government should aggressively pursue the issue of ILP with the central government. In 2019, the resolution was passed by the Assembly and we expect the state government to come out with a positive and clear message for the people of the state regarding the Centre’s mind and stand on the resolution,” KSU president Lambokstar Marngar said on Thursday.
Talking about other expectations in 2025, the KSU leader said they expect the inclusion of the Khasi language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, resolution of the interstate border dispute with Assam and a solution to the unemployment crisis.
The KSU president reminded that they have been regularly raising these issues. “We want transparency in the recruitment process in all the government departments across Meghalaya,” he said.
“We have time and again raised the issue of the anomalies in the MPSC recruitment process and the state government is duty bound to address the issue,” he added.
Stating that it is high time the state government opens its eyes and ears and listens to the issues affecting the people, he said, “People have elected the legislators and sent them to the Assembly to make law and policies for the security and safety of the people. The lawmakers are bound to do the needful for the people of the state.”
