Guwahati, Jan 4: Student volunteers of the NSS Cell, University of Science & Technology Meghalaya (USTM), actively participated in the significant national initiative organized by the Government of India.
Among them, Ms. Teihun Makri, a dedicated NSS volunteer, has made USTM proud by qualifying for the final round of the Vikshit Bharat National Championship. The event is scheduled to be held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on January 11th and 12th, 2025, where she will present her vision and ideas for “Vikshit Bharat” to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, representing Meghalaya State.
Ms. Makri, currently pursuing her postgraduate degree in the Department of Botany, excelled in the rigorous selection process. Her chosen focus area for the competition, “Enhancing Productivity through Agriculture,” was guided meticulously by Dr. Moutushi Dey and Dr. Amilia Nongbet, who provided expertise in data collection methodologies.
The NSS Cell, USTM, extended unwavering support throughout her journey, ensuring timely submission of all relevant documents to the Government system.
Dr. Nibedita Paul, Program Coordinator of the NSS Cell, expressed heartfelt gratitude to USTM’s Hon’ble Chancellor, Mahbubul Hoque, Vice Chancellor Prof. G. D. Sharma, the Regional Directorate of NSS, and the State Nodal Officer of Meghalaya for their constant support and encouragement.
She conveyed the university’s best wishes to Ms. Makri for her remarkable accomplishment and her role in representing USTM at this prestigious national event.
The Vikshit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2025, a reimagined version of the National Youth Festival of India, is an innovative youth engagement initiative inspired by the Prime Minister’s vision to involve 100,000 young leaders in civic life and leadership roles.
The programme features a four-stage selection process: Online Quiz (November 25 – December 5, 2024): Focusing on India’s achievements; Essay Competition (December 8-15, 2024): Participants submitted 1000-word essays on themes like technology, startups, and women empowerment; State-Level PPT Presentations (December 20-26, 2024): A platform to showcase innovative ideas; National-Level Presentations (January 11-12, 2025): Finalists will present their vision directly to the Prime Minister.
The event will also feature plenary sessions with national and global leaders, an exhibition of youth initiatives from various states and ministries, and cultural performances under the theme “Vikas Bhi Virasat Bhi.”
