WJH farmer conferred with Innovative Farmers’ Award

Shillong, Jan 4: I Ymbon, a farmer from Mukhap village in West Jaintia Hills district, was honoured with the prestigious Innovative Farmers’ Award on Saturday at the Regional Agriculture Fair organised by Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat.
Ymbon received the accolade for his outstanding contributions to agriculture and allied sectors, which have been recognised as groundbreaking in advancing sustainable and innovative farming practices.
The award was presented by Atul Bora, Assam Minister of Agriculture and Veterinary, in the presence of Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Member of Parliament from Kaziranga Constituency, and Dr. Bidyut C. Deka, Vice-Chancellor of Assam Agricultural University.
The ceremony also witnessed the participation of several dignitaries and fellow innovators.
Ymbon’s nomination for the award was facilitated by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Jaintia Hills, with whom he has closely collaborated.
Ymbon’s achievement highlights not only his dedication but also the transformative potential of innovation in rural communities.
He was accompanied at the event by Dr. Rimiki Suchiang, Subject Matter Specialist (Animal Husbandry & Veterinary), and K. Passah, both from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jaintia Hills.
