Body formed to promote community welfare in GH

TURA, Jan 5: With an aim to promote various community welfare activities in the Garo Hills region, Scorpio vehicle owners from the area held a meeting on Saturday at the Chenik Resort and formed the Scorpio United Organisation.
The group, open exclusively to owners of Scorpio vehicles, was established under the chairmanship of Ismail R. Marak, with its headquarters located in Tura.
The newly formed organisation aims to champion several key causes, including charitable drives such as supporting underprivileged communities through organised donation and outreach initiatives, environmental conservation (undertaking activities that address critical environmental issues, including awareness campaigns and tree plantation drives), road safety, boosting state’s tourism, medical aid and camps which will involve organising free medical camps and providing assistance to those in need and politics-free initiatives.
The elected office-bearers include Tengkrang A Sangma as president, Mahmood A Sangma as vice-president, Rocky R Marak as general secretary, Kunal Ch Momin as joint secretary, Munna Aron G Momin as finance secretary and Sumit Dey as publicity secretary, besides 15 other executive members.
