BSF seizes contraband worth Rs 28 L; 1 held

SHILLONG, Jan 5: Thwarting a major smuggling attempt along the Indo-Bangladesh border, the BSF on Saturday apprehended an Indian national and seized contraband items worth Rs 28 lakh.
In a statement, the BSF said it managed to seize four mini-trucks loaded with contraband worth Rs 28 lakh in East Khasi Hills. The seized items include jeera, liquor, tea, fish, dry fish, soap, garlic, blankets, etc., which were supposed to be smuggled into Bangladesh. It further stated that the apprehended individual and confiscated goods were handed over to customs authorities for further action.
