SHILLONG, Jan 6: Several areas in Shillong continue to face water scarcity, with the Shillong Cantonment being one of the most affected.
Water shortage in the Cantonment area is not a new phenomenon. For almost a month now, residents have been grappling with an acute lack of water supply.
According to residents, it has been nearly 20-25 days since water was last supplied in the evenings. “In the morning, we receive water, but there is no supply in the evenings,” a resident said.
The scarcity has also led to disputes in several localities, particularly in compounds shared by multiple households, as people struggle to get enough water to meet their needs. As of now, the reason behind the shortage remains unclear, leaving residents frustrated and searching for answers.
