Apprehension
On January 8 evening, police apprehended two motorcycle lifters, viz. Senku M Marak (24) and Cornalius Mukhim (18) from Mawsynram, East Khasi Hills, along with three motorcycles.
Unpaid dues
David Kharsati lodged a complaint that one Anand Chhetri, an authorised representative of a firm, viz. M/s Aimil Pharmaceutical, took materials valued around Rs. 2,13,265 from his firm and failed to make payment, despite several reminders.
Silverth M Sangma lodged a complaint that on July 13, 2024, two persons, viz. Jhim Carter M Sangma of Tura, West Garo Hills, and Bokar Poramanik of Assam borrowed Rs. 1.5 lakh from him, with a promise to repay the same along with 20 per cent interest. However, the aforementioned persons failed to do so.
Fraud
Klian Khyllait, Bitinora Kharthangmaw and Iaidrit Kharthangmaw lodged a complaint on January 8 at Sohiong Outpost, East Khasi Hills, against one Phriden Sing Thabah and Rojen Khyllait for fraudulently persuading them to issue signed blank cheques to withdraw 10 per cent amount of money from their respective bank accounts, as the aforementioned persons have help them in getting compensation in connection with the construction of Shillong Western Bypass. However, the complainants recently learnt that the named persons have withdrawn huge amount of money from their bank accounts, without their knowledge.
Assault
On January 8 around 9 pm, unidentified person(s) assaulted one Kenny Jyrwa (29) at Rilbong Laban, Shillong. As a result, the victim sustained injuries and was admitted at Shillong Civil Hospital.
Police received information that Bilbor Arengh (35), Proprietor of Gabil Restaurant, North Garo Hills, and one Tengkim Marak (29) allegedly assaulted one Ripon Devnath (27) and two women in North Garo Hills, causing minor injuries to them.
Fake online profile
A resident of a locality in Shillong lodged a complaint that on December 20, 2024, a fake profile was created on ‘Bharat Matrimony’ platform under the name Dr. Bibhan B, using his photograph as profile photo without his consent /knowledge.
Break-in
D Surong lodged a complaint that on January 8 night, unknown miscreant(s) broke into her residence at Lumjingsuk Madanrting, Shillong, and stole one TV set.
Asharphi Ray lodged a complaint that on January 7, unknown miscreant(s) broke into his residence at 29 Cantonment, Goenka Market, Shillong, and stole gold ornaments and cash worth Rs. 17,000.
Stone pelting
Sanjiv Kumar Jha lodged a complaint that on January 5 around 7.30 pm, unknown miscreant(s) pelted stones at the government quarters in BSF Campus, Mawpat, Shillong, damaging the windowpanes.
Theft
On January 7 around 9 pm, police received information that unknown miscreant(s) stole one motorcycle (ML-05AD-3852) belonging to one Blondel L Nongpiur from his residence at Langkyrding Lane-4, Shillong.
Iaiskhem Shabong lodged a complaint that on January 4 early morning, unknown miscreant(s) stole his motorcycle (ML-05X-6809) from his residence at Nongthliew Sharum, Eastern West Khasi Hills.
Vice principal at Industrial Training Institute, Khliehtyrshi, West Jaintia Hills, lodged a complaint that on January 6, he found that unknown miscreant(s) stole three CPUs, three keyboards, three monitors, three batteries, three tyres and one tyre rim.
Salgrik A Sangma lodged a complaint that on January 7 at about 3.30 am, unknown miscreant(s) stole his motorcycle from Tura Market, West Garo Hills.
Seizure
Party Commander, F-Coy, 4th Bn., BSF, BOP Rongtilla, West Jaintia Hills, lodged a complaint that on January 7 around 12.30 pm, BSF personnel detected eighteen abandoned cattle from near BP No. 1283/4-S, West Jaintia Hills.
