Shullai gets ball rolling for synthetic football turf in Madan Laban area

SHILLONG, Jan 11: South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai laid the foundation stone for a synthetic football turf at Madan Laban, marking a major step in enhancing sports infrastructure in the region.
The project, funded under the Special Plan Assistance (SPA) scheme, has a budget of Rs 5.26 crore.
The project includes not only the synthetic turf but also fencing, retaining walls, drains and a restroom, providing comprehensive facilities for athletes and the local community.
Speaking at the event, Shullai stressed that the infrastructure must be dedicated solely to sporting activities.
He also highlighted various developmental initiatives in the constituency aimed at promoting sports and nurturing local talent.
The MLA then announced plans for four additional sports infrastructures in the constituency with a combined budget exceeding Rs 42 crore.
The foundation-laying ceremony saw active participation from Sports Associations, Dorbar Shnongs and local residents, demonstrating a community-driven commitment to fostering sports culture in South Shillong.
