Govt to procure land for various tourism projects

SHILLONG, Jan 12: The Meghalaya government is now going to purchase or lease land from landowners or communities in different parts of the state for tourism related projects.
The state government recently invited expression of interest from landowners and communities for tourism development in Ri-Bhoi, West Khasi Hills, West Jaintia Hills, and East Jaintia Hills districts.
As per the EOI, the government is looking for 9 acres of land in Umden for construction of a museum and 15 acres of land in Mawphanlur for construction of an Eco Park and other tourist amenities.
In Pynursla and Dawki, the government is looking for 5 acres of land each to set up tourist facilitation centres.
In addition, the government is also looking for one acre of land each in several parts of East Jaintia Hills for development of tourist infrastructure.
