Two more children die of mysterious disease in J&K
Rajouri/Jammu, Jan 13: Two more children died on Monday after six kids from a family were admitted to hospital due to a mysterious illness at Badhaal village in Rajouri district, officials said. Six children of Mohammad Aslam were taken to the community health centre for a medical check-up on Saturday evening. The children were initially referred to the Government Medical College (GMC) Associated Hospital and later they were shifted to the SMGS Hospital in Jammu where 5-year-old Nabeena breathed her last on Sunday, they said. On Monday, a 14 and 8-year-old died during treatment at the hospital. The situation in the village is grim, with fear of the unknown disease gripping its residents, he added. (PTI)
Curious about afterlife, boy shoots self in front of family
Meerut, Jan 13: Curious about afterlife as his online searches revealed later, a 15-year-old boy allegedly shot himself with a country-made pistol in front of his family here, police said on Monday. According to police, Yuvraj Rana, who was in class 9, searched about ‘Garuda Purana’, ‘what happens after death’, ‘methods of death’ and ‘where soul goes after death’ on Google and Youtube prior to his death. There was no suicide note left behind by the boy, officials said. The incident occurred on Saturday night when Yuvraj Rana shot himself. Police informed that preliminary investigations suggest that Yuvraj was upset after his mother and brother scolded him for being in bad company. The family had also sold his bike which agitated him further. (PTI)
72-yr-old man, sister found dead
Raigarh, Jan 13: A 72-year-old man and his sister were found murdered in their house in Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh district on Monday, a police official said. The incident took place in the City Kotwali police station limits, he added. “The heads of Sitaram Jaiswal and his sister Annapurna were smashed with a hard object. The two lived alone in the house. The crime came to light after a relative reached there and found the house locked from inside. (PTI)
Peon found dead in college, probe on
Bhadohi, Jan 13: A peon at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Government Girls Inter College here was found dead with severe injuries on Monday, police said. The incident occurred in Maharajganj, Aurai area, along National Highway 19, officials said. The victim worked as a peon and would sleep at the college at night. (pti)
