WILLIAMNAGAR, Jan 14: At least 11 shops were gutted in a fire that apparently broke out due to a short circuit in Williamnagar, East Garo Hills, on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred opposite to the Williamnagar Civil Hospital in the heart of the town.
As per police sources, a call was made by residents to the Police Control Room (PCR) at around 5:30 am about a fire after which a team from the Fire and Emergency Services quickly responded to the fire.
“The fire was doused in a few hours following the intervention. There are no reports of any injuries or casualties from the incident and an assessment is currently under way to determine the extent of damages,” police said.
