SHILLONG, Jan 14: The UDP will release its third list of candidates later this week, while the party manifesto for the upcoming elections to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) is also set to be unveiled soon.
According to UDP working president, Titostarwell Chyne, several constituencies, including Sohiong, Mawkynrew, and Nongstoin, are yet to have their candidates announced.
Chyne confirmed that the party is in the process of drafting the manifesto, focusing on agendas and issues to be highlighted during the election campaign. “We will be finalising the party manifesto soon,” he stated.
So far, the UDP has declared 19 candidates for the KHADC and 16 candidates for the JHADC.
It may be noted that the UDP has decided not to enter into any understanding with the Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP), which is part of the Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA), for the upcoming district council elections.
