Nongpoh MLA inaugurates office, hands over ambulance

NONGPOH, Jan 15: Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem on Wednesday inaugurated the office of the Ri-Bhoi Shatei Presbytery at Pahamlapong.
During the event, he also handed over an ambulance to the Presbytery, procured through the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund (CMSDF) 2024–25, ahead of its silver jubilee celebration slated for February 2025 at the Presbyterian Church, Mawtnum.
The newly inaugurated Presbytery office also houses a music institute, established to provide training  in music and arts for the youths of the region.
The ceremony was also attended by Nongpoh MDC Balajied Rani, Ri-Bhoi Presbyterian Synod Moderator Rev. SN Teron, elder RR Pamshong, and several other church leaders and members.
In his address, Syiem commended the congregation’s efforts and contributions that made the establishment of the office possible.
Assuring his continued support, he pledged to assist the Presbytery in overcoming any challenges in its mission to serve the community.
The MLA then handed over a work order worth Rs 5 lakh to expand the newly constructed office building, ensuring its capacity to better serve the region in the future.
