Gratitude

NPP vice president and JHADC CEM, Thombor Shiwat, has extended his gratitude to Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma for the inclusion of Pnar language in the State Anthem, during the cabinet meeting held recently. He also thanked Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar and the MLAs from Jaintia Hills region for their contribution in incorporating the verse—Ha yupiam pho Chong i stad i chlur I kreh chitom ia pha I pyrto to chi Junom—in the State Anthem.

Condolence

Members of the Gorkha Secondary School Alumni Association Upper Shillong, in a condolence meeting held on Friday, observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to (L) Subhakala Limbu, daughter of (L) Nanda Bahadur Gurung, who passed away on January 14 at her residence in Nongmensong.
The Shillong Socio-Cultural Assamese Students’ Association (SSASA) has conveyed its condolence over the demise of Ratna Mahanta, mother of SP Mahanta, the association’s legal advisor, on Friday. She was 95. “Mahanta was a noble soul whose life was a beacon of kindness, humility, and strength. Her unwavering dedication to her family and her compassionate nature left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her values and spirit will continue to inspire those she leaves behind,” the association said in a statement issued here.
