Duped

A resident of a locality in Shillong lodged a complaint that on January 6 around 7 pm, he received an anonymous phone call, wherein the caller impersonated himself as one of his family friends and cheated him of Rs. 2,98,669.

Cattle missing

Bording Khyllait lodged a complaint that on January 13 morning, two heads of cattle were found missing from his cowshed at Lawkynter Laitdom village in Eastern West Khasi Hills. Around 8 pm, the complainant, along with others, apprehended three persons, viz. Phastar Rngaid, Phikstar Rngaid and Bastarwell Nongphud in one local taxi at Mawpun area, where one of the missing cattle was tied with a rope. However, their accomplice managed to escape.
George Marngar lodged a complaint that on January 7 around 2.30 pm, two heads of cattle were found missing from Mawdiangsnam Umwar village, West Khasi Hills. The complainant suspected that the cattle had been stolen.

Theft

Lamborlang Suting lodged a complaint that on the night of January 13, unknown miscreant(s) stole his scooter (ML-05S-1556) from his residence at Nongmadan, Pynursla, East Khasi Hills.
Handaka H Lhuid lodged a complaint that on the night of January 13, unknown miscreant(s) stole her scooter (ML-05D-7844) from Ïalong, Jowai, West Jaintia Hills.

Stone-pelting

Dishon Singh Bhoi lodged a complaint that on January 11 around 8 pm, one B. Ruson, along with his three accomplices in one vehicle (ML-05U-7747), pelted stones at his vehicle (ML-05AB-3309) at Nonghali Nongtyrkhang, East Khasi Hills, causing damage to his vehicle.

Assault

Diskaland Rani lodged a complaint that on January 13 at about 5.45 pm, three persons approached him on the pretext of selling clothes, while he was on his way to Lawmali, Shillong. However, when the complainant refused, the trio became aggressive, attempted to snatch his bag and one of them assaulted him. As a result, the complainant sustained injuries. Later, two of the accused, viz. Rojan N Sangma (24) and Vijay Biswa (26) were apprehended with the help of passersby, while their accomplice fled away along with the complainant’s mobile phone and unspecified amount of cash.

Infiltration bid foiled

Coy Commander, D-Coy, 4th Bn., BSF Dawki Border Outpost, lodged a complaint that on January 12 around 7.30 pm, BSF personnel apprehended three Indian nationals, viz. Labu Das (32), Suman Baishnab (27) and Paraamjit Deb (21) along with four Bangladeshi nationals, viz. Panthus Das (40), Mori Das (35) and two boys aged 11 years and 6 years, who illegally crossed over into Indian territJory near BP No. 1272/8-S, reportedly with an intention to proceed towards Silchar, Assam, in one vehicle (ML-10B-3482).

Tree felling

Secretary of Thangrain village, West Jaintia Hills, lodged a complaint that on January 13 around 7.45 pm, three residents of the same village cut down several trees from ‘Khliehumiarong’ and loaded the same in one truck (ML-04-4309). Later, when the Executive Committee, led by the complainant, prevented them, the accused persons threatened them with dire consequences.
