Man held with drugs in SWGH

TURA, Jan 19: South West Garo Hills police on Saturday arrested a suspected drug smuggler from Assam and seized from his possession contraband items.
Police informed that a two-wheeler (AS 17J 2814) was detained during a routine check at Ambari State Highway-12 near a kiln factory in the district.
During a search that was subsequently conducted, police recovered 992 yaba tablets and two soap boxes of heroin weighing 19.21 grams from the possession of the accused, who has been identified as Md Aktar Hussain (32), hailing from South Salmara-Mankachar, Assam.
Subsequently, the contraband items and the vehicle were confiscated and an investigation into the matter was initiated.
